Saints in the City:
3-5 February, 2012
A note from Steve...
I believe that God did something special at our last weekend away. We were gently nudged in the direction of mid-sized communities, we enjoyed one anothers’ company across the boundaries of age and congregation. I believe that God has great things in store for us at our weekend in Swanwick in February 2012. John & Olive Drane have been asked to help us think about what being engaged with the city looks like. What are the forces and influences that are shaping our city and culture? What is the theology that underpins what we do? How can we best express, both in word and action, God’s love and concern for Nottingham?
But it won’t all be theoretical, we will also be building community together and giving time for listening to and meeting with God.Please begin to pray for the weekend – that it will be a significant time in the life of our churches. And please come! The food is excellent, the rooms are comfortable and we will have a great time!
The programme:
Swanwick 2012 promises to be an exciting and fun weekend for the whole church family. Starting on the Friday evening and ending on the Sunday afternoon we’re organising a programme of events and activities to enable us to enjoy being with one another and to learn from one another as we seek to listen to God and find out what he wants us to be doing as a church. Our guest speakers for the main sessions are John & Olive Drane,
The venue:
All your meals will be provided (breakfast, coffee, lunch, afternoon tea, evening meal) and you will only need to take personal toiletries. Bedrooms are comfortable with most having ensuite facilities. Single, double and family rooms are available. There are various meeting rooms, a games room and TV lounge that will be available to us. There will be a full programme of activities for youth and children.
The cost:
This will vary according to the type of accommodation you require and this is shown on the booking form.
Discounts and concessions. Our hope is that every church member who wishes to take part in the weekend will be able to do so and we will do everything we can to support those needing financial help. To enable this to happen the following discounts will be available:
- Families will not need to pay for accompanied children in full time education
- Students (ie those at college or university), those unemployed or anyone receiving just state pension need only pay 50% of fees.
Payments:
When your completed form is returned to the office we will, based on the room prices indicated inside, calculate what we think the weekend will cost you. You will receive an invoice for this which should be paid by 31 December.
Please note that some room types are limited so book early to ensure you get your first choice! You may wish to spread payments over several months. If you have any questions about finance please have a word with David Duncan.
Bursary fund:
To help cover some of the costs of allowing discounts we have set up a bursary fund to which we hope many who are able will contribute! Contributions (which can be Gift Aided) can be made at any time.
Further details will be sent out nearer the time along with the full programme of events. We will also be arranging lifts for those who need them. If you have any questions prior to booking please contact David Duncan or Emma Cole in the church office as soon as possible.
